You can experiment with the recipe to incorporate more or less of different veggies and fruits depending on you rabbit’s preferences.
First, you preheat your oven to 325 degrees and get a cookie sheet out and line it with wax paper or freezer paper. (Wax paper works best, I’ve found out.)
1 cup of rabbit hay pellets
1/4 cup of water if the consistency is to dry
*You can substitute these ingredients with your rabbit’s favorite fruits or veggies!
Add in some craisins too if you think they will like it better!
In a coffee grinder or blender, grind up the oats and pellets into a powdery, flour-like consistency. Pour into a bowl and set aside. Put your fresh ingredients into the blender and puree until you get a baby food like consistency. Add your puree and dry mix together and mix it all up! It should be a little stickier than cookie dough. Next, you put the mixture onto the cookie sheet and you can either put it into little 1/2″ shapes or you can roll the whole thing out to 1/2″ thickness and score it to break it apart easier. Next, bake the treats at 325 degrees for 30-40 minutes and then turn the oven off. Let the treats dry out in the oven for at least 15-20 more minutes (It makes them last longer).
I would like to thank Lucy @dutchbunnydarlings for sharing this wonderful recipe with me and allowing me to share it on my blog!
I hope all of your bunnies enjoy the treats!
